After quickly outgrowing their successful walk-up coffee cart, Café Rica realized their vision for the brand wasn’t fully realized. Brothers and co-owners Tristan & Jackson emphasized how personal it was to open a brick-and-mortar café in their hometown of Battle Creek, MI.

In recent years, downtown had become a transient place to do business and leave. Tristan and Jackson knew there was not only the need for a great cup of coffee downtown, but even more important, there was an opportunity to provide community space.

They wanted to create a brand that felt warm + friendly, inviting, and payed homage to their Costa Rican heritage. Together, we set out to create a coffee experience that could rival any third-wave coffee roaster in Detroit or beyond. Café Rica is Battle Creek’s little slice of paradise.
